Gratitude

Gratitude is defined as “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness”. Simple, yet profound.

This past week we celebrated Thanksgiving. A time to get together with friends and family. A time to reflect on everything we are grateful for. Oh and of course a time to eat lots of turkey and take a nap watching football.

As I was reflecting on all the ways God has blessed me over this past year, I kept coming back to the idea of gratitude and how important it is in our lives. If we can learn to approach every situation or decision with a foundation of gratitude, it will undoubtedly lead to more happiness and success.

Think about it. If your mindset going into a situation is positive, win or lose you are going to be able to deal with it. At the end of the day you still have many things to be thankful for and one bad situation cannot dictate your happiness or success. Even in bad situations you will be able to find a silver lining.

Conversely, if you choose the opposite and are always focusing on the negative, chances are that is all you are going to see in any situation. Sounds like a pretty terrible way to live if you ask me.

Gratitude is a choice that we have to make on a daily basis. I would encourage you to take a moment and reflect on some of the blessings in your life and find a way to embrace gratitude each day.

One thing that I am very thankful for is everyone who continues to read this blog. It means the world to me when someone tells me how my writing has impacted them or to simply continue writing. I love writing because it allows me to process my thoughts but my main goal is to help you in some way. If there are any specific topics you would like me to cover, please reach out. If not, I will talk to you next week!
