Have you ever seen a hawk flying in the sky with a few crows close on its tail, bothering it? I never really understood this. A hawk is much more fierce predator capable of destroying the crows if he chose to. But for some reason he doesn’t. He just continues flying and focusing on his task at hand.
If you pay close attention, you will also notice that many times when a crow is by himself, smaller birds will follow him around and bother him. A little bit of karma if you ask me.
Why am I telling you this?
The hawk is always laser focused on the task at hand. In the business world, there will always be people trying to tear you down and make you divert from the direction you are heading. Chances are, they simply cannot keep up and instead of building themselves up, they choose to tear you down. Do not lose focus. Continue down the path you are called to be on and don’t let anyone stand in your way.
The second lesson is about getting revenge. The hawk could have easily turned the tables on the crows and taken them out. But was that the right move? I am a firm believer that doing what is right is always the best move. As tempting as it might be to try to get revenge or tear someone else down, it is simply a waste of time and energy. Focus on you and achieving your goals.
We all need to be more like a hawk in our professional lives but also in our personal lives. Focus on what you’re doing and what is right and don’t listen to all the other noise. It may be hard, it may be difficult, but it will pay off. The hawk was so self-aware of who he was that he didn’t have to waste his time with the crows. If you want to succeed you need to adapt this mindset. Know who you are, what you can do and ignore the crows.
If you read this post, tag some of your “crows” below. Just kidding! But seriously, just keep focusing on you and block out all the haters and the noise.
